Anyone I haven’t met yet?

I’m Eliza.

Eliza + Brad || Fun with leaves.

brad-harper:

As they walked further and further through the woods, it became apparent that they both probably didn’t know where they were going. It wouldn’t be hard to get back to the house, but it was fun and exciting to Brad not having a set destination in mind. “Don’t be silly, Eliza. There’s hardly anyone at the house who I don’t like.” he said in a teasing tone. She had been looking down, but he waited for her gaze to meet his so she could see he was smiling about it. “I don’t like being kept inside the house all day either. I mean, sure books help me mentally escape the place, but nothing beats this fresh air and leaves. I’ll be sure not to come join you next time, since you like being alone so much.” He stuck his tongue out at her jokingly after his remark.

Brad turned to look away from her, scanning the way up ahead for any interesting spots. he could see a small river up a bit more, and decided it’d be a good place to stop for a bit, before heading back to the safe house. “I mostly miss meeting strangers. There’s only so many invisible people out there,” he said laughing at his statement. “Most people here miss their parents. Me? Not so much. There are a few people I wish I could talk to from back home though. Anyways, there’s a river up ahead where we could stop for a few minutes before we head back. What do you say to that?”

“Don’t be silly, Eliza. There’s hardly anyone at the house who I don’t like,” He said in a teasing voice. Eliza looked up after he said that with a glimmer of hope in her eyes; had she mad a new friend? She searched his eyes, looking for an answer. “I don’t like being kept inside the house all day either. I mean, sure books help me mentally escape the place, but nothing beats this fresh air and leaves. I’ll be sure not to come join you next time, since you like being alone so much,” while sticking his tongue out. Eliza couldn’t help but laugh, pushing him in a joking way. Brad then turned away from her, his eyes scanning the perimeter of the woods, like he was looking for something. He seemed to find what he was looking for, and walked toward it. Eliza, being the curious person she was, couldn’t help but follow and join.

After what seemed like an eternity, Brad finally spoke. “I mostly miss meeting strangers. There’s only so many invisible people out there,” he said while laughing. “Most people here miss their parents. Me? Not so much. There are a few people I wish I could talk to from back home though. Anyways, there’s a river up ahead where we could stop for a few minutes before we head back. What do you say to that?” Eliza couldn’t help but be surprised at his statement. Most of the people here seemed to miss their old life; their parents, most of all. She had always thought Brad was one of those people, but she’d obviously been wrong. She understood him though; her dad hated her and treated her like she was invisible even before she actually was invisible. “I understand, what you mean. About not missing your parents a lot. I guess I’m like you; I think I miss my friends more than my parents,” while laughing an empty laugh. “Sure. As long as you promise not to push me in,” she said in a teasing tone.

So

brad-harper:

I have a feeling that I should have gone out to the club with everyone tonight. I can just sense all the stories people will tell. I’m going to take my sober self up to the library, vodka in one hand, book in the other.

Mind if I join you? I missed it too…

Eliza + Brad || Fun with leaves.

brad-harper:

When Eliza had told Brad he could join her for a walk, Brad let the joy of the prank settle in and looked around at the scenery. This was a path he normally didn’t take. “I like it here. It’s very interesting to say the least, and as long as that’s the case, I shouldn’t hate it too much. There are a few things I miss since coming here though.” He said, replying to her statement. He could sense she was nervous talking, and decided he’d try to lighten the mood. He smiled at her, then said, “How about you? Have you found your place in the safe house yet with the others? It seems like I meet a new face there everyday, but you always seem to run the other direction from me when I spot you. That’s not very nice, you know” he teased, letting his grin widen as he looked at her.

“Where you going somewhere in particular? Or just wandering about?” Brad said, as he noticed he still wasn’t entirely sure where the path led. “It’s a really nice day out, I’m surprised you didn’t bring your friends to join you. Thanks for letting me tag along by the way.” he said as he moved a branch out of the way for her, still keeping a smile.

They began to walk a path she’d never been on before. This place was full of surprises. Brad looked around the scenery, and responded. “I like it here. It’s very interesting to say the least, and as long as that’s the case, I shouldn’t hate it too much. There are a few things I miss since coming here though.” Eliza couldn’t help but wondering what he did miss. She was about to ask him, but hesitated, still slightly nervous and uncomfortable. Every time she’d seen him, she ran away for some unexplainable reason. Brad must have noticed this too. “How about you? Have you found your place in the safe house yet with the others? It seems like I meet a new face there every day, but you always seem to run the other direction from me when I spot you. That’s not very nice, you know.” He teased.

Brad continued speaking. Eliza noticed how much he liked to talk, how he always so curious. She liked how she was the exact opposite of him. “Were you going somewhere in particular? Or just wandering about?” He moved a branch out of the way while he spoke. “It’s a really nice day out, I’m surprised you didn’t bring your friends to join you. Thanks for letting me tag along by the way,” While smiling at her. What a gentleman, she thought.

Eliza couldn’t help but blush while she responded. “I guess I like it here. And not really, to be honest. I’m not good at making friends,” she said while looking down, embarrassed. “Sorry about running away from you. I guess… I guess it’s just that you’re so loud and bold and I’m the shyest person ever. I guess I feel like you wouldn’t like me very much.” She mumbled, looking at her feet. In response to his question, she said, “I guess I was just wandering about. It gets boring being stuck in a big house all the time. I don’t think my friends would’ve wanted to come, anyways. I like being alone. But I mean, it’s nice that you’re here with me. Not that I don’t want you here.” Fuck, she thought. She did it again. When would she stop babbling?, she wondered. She decided to make the moment less awkward. “So, do you miss anything back home?” she asked with a slight smile.
